CA NEW COURSE AGAIN REVISED : ITSM & ISCA Reintroduced

In February 2015, ICAI had announced that they are planning to introduce changes in the CA Curriculum which would be applicable from 2016. ICAI had also released a draft of the CA New Course which would be applicable from 2016.
The Draft released earlier by ICAI has now again been Revised in 6th July 2015 and several new changes are being planned which were not their in the draft announced earlier.The following is the revised draft of the New CA Course. Please note that this revised draft is also not final and is only proposed.



Changes in CA Foundation
          
  1. Name changed from CPT to CA Foundation
  2. Duration of CA Foundation to be 8 Months (In the previous draft – this was 9 months)
  3. The Exams would be held in the month of May and Nov
  4. The subjects as mentioned in the Revised New Draft are as follows :-  
      
                             Foundation Course:  Number of Papers – 4                   

            Paper 1           :    Fundamental Accounting (100 marks)


            Paper 2           :    Quantitative Aptitude (100 marks)

            Paper 3           :     A) Mercantile Law (60 marks)                                                                          

                                        B) General Economics (40 marks)

            Paper 4           :     A) General English (50 marks)


                                        B) Business Communication (50 marks)

                  Note -   Paper 2 and Paper 4 will be Objective type papers.
Changes in CA Intermediate
  1. Cost Accounting and Financial Management to be 2 different subjects
  2. Duration of Intermediate Course increased from 9 months to 12 months
  3. Direct and Indirect Taxes were proposed to be 2 different subjects of 100 Marks each in the previous draft. In the revised draft, these have now been merged together into a Single subject
  4. Information Technology and Strategic Management Reintroduced (ICAI was planning to delete these in the draft released earlier but now ICAI does not intent to delete them and these would continue to be applicable)
    
                     Intermediate Course: Number of Papers – 8
   
                Group I
            
                 Paper – 1   : Accounting (100 marks)

            Paper – 2   : Company Law, Other Laws and Ethics (100 marks)

                      Part – I :  Company Law (60 marks)

                      Part – II  :   Other Laws (20 marks)

                      Part – III :     Ethics (20 marks)

             Paper – 3  :  Cost Accounting (100 marks)

              Paper –  4  :  Direct Taxes (100 marks)
           
                Group II

             Paper – 5   :  Advanced Accounting  (100 marks)

             Paper – 6   :  Auditing and Assurance (100 marks)

             Paper – 7   :  Financial Management (100 marks)

             Paper – 8   :  Indirect Taxes (100 marks)

Changes in CA Final
  1. New subject introduced: Capital Markets and Financial Services
  2. Eligibility to appear for CA Final only after completion of full period of Articleship
  3. Information Systems Control and Audit (ISCA) which was proposed to be deleted in the previous draft has now been reintroduced in the revised draft. This would now form a part of Paper 6 and would be for 50 Marks.

                 Group I
      
                Paper – 1  :  Financial Reporting (100 marks)
  
              Paper – 2  :  Strategic Financial Management (100 marks)

              Paper – 3  :  Advanced Auditing And Professional Ethics (100 marks)

              Paper – 4  :  Corporate Law and Other Economic Laws (100 marks)
    
                 Group II

              Paper – 5  :  Advanced Management Accounting (100 marks)

              Paper – 6  :  Financial Services and Capital Markets (100 marks)

              Paper – 7  :  A) Advanced Tax Management (60 marks) 
                      
                                 B) Internal Taxation (40 marks)

              Paper – 8  :  Indirect Tax Laws (100 marks)





Important Note- 

          Although the CA New Course 2016 is expected to be introduced somewhere around in the year 2016 but ICAI has also announced that the New & the Old course will continue simultaneously for some years gradually will shift to the new course.

The existing students need not worry as they would be given ample time to prepare & to clear their exams.
